After reading the nice article in this month's Boston magazine about John and the "Jack Rose Society", I finagled my husband into taking me to No 9 last night. Ryan and Andy were manning the bar. Another great meal. E started with the steak tartare and one of his favorites, the truffled gnocchi with lobster. For me, first up was the pasta sampler of three - mozzarella ravioli with capers and tomatoes, tagliatelle with pears, and the prune-stuffed gnocchi with foie gras. Does anyone do pastas like Barbara Lynch? They were all fantastic. Next was the Crispy Duck Reuben, or as Ryan put it, "duck crackers". Three thin crispy buttery pieces of rye encasing pieces of duck confit which I dipped in the crock of Thousand Island dressing, served with picked vegs (carrots, cauliflower, chanterelles). Then for dessert (ha) I had the sweetbread ravioli with brandy cream sauce. Really great meal. And of course excellent cocktails as always.
