On the way home from a month in the Scottish Highlands, we had a very nice weekend in London earlier this month. Got to see the Queen in the "Trooping of the Colours" procession, two plays and a couple of museum visits.

Lunch Saturday on our way to the Natural History Museum was sandwiches at the Pret A Manger on Brompton Road. Pre-theater dinner was at J. Sheekey's Atlantic Bar. We shared Crab Cakes with Thai dipping sauce (very good), Tempura Prawns (kind of bland), chips & a green salad. The chips were thin (more in the French style) and quite good.

After dinner, we stopped by the Barrafina on Adelaide Street. It was the first time to any of their locations. It reminded me of Cal Pep in Barcelona. We had the tomato bread, the classic torilla and the salt cod fritters. All were quite tasty. For desert, we shared an order of churros with chocolate dipping sauce, also quite good.

Lunch Sunday was at Gaby's deli on Charing Cross Road. We shared the hummus and falafel appetizer (very good) and the salt beef sandwich platter. The salt beef (what would be called corned beef in the U.S.) was OK. It came with small portions of cole slaw, green salad and potato salad.

After a visit to Foley's bookstore, we stopped by the famous Bar Italia on Frith Street for coffee. My wife really liked her espresso and i enjoyed my iced coffee.

For dinner we went to the Relais de Venise on Marylebone Lane. We had eaten there for the first time a year ago. All they serve is a green salad, steak frites and an small assortment of deserts. They do a pretty good job of it.
