This visit will be a new part of the city for me (although my intuition is it's not very "neighborhoody") - darling wife made hotel arrangements without consultation (Hotel Metro).
I have previously stayed in Theater Distict and preferred low-end (but chowish) places along 9th and 10th Ave in the 40's and 50's.
We are a group of 3 - wife, me, and college age son. I would like to keep each total dinner cost (for 3) under $100, lunches under $50, and breakfast minimal.
So what are the low end spots to recommend: Everything from a good beef tripe taco , pizza, seafood soups, country French, Burmese, coffee shops (with living room atmosphere/music - no chains), croissants, tapas.
All cuisines welcome.
