I happily accepted a 3 day consulting job in Philadelphia on the condition that they fly me back to Seattle out of New York's JFK airport. Taking the train from Philly to NYC on Wed eve, March 13. I will be staying (with a friend who happens to be in the city at the same time doing consulting work) at the Roger Williams Hotel at 131 Madison Avenue, and will have just over 24 hours in the city before my flight leaves for home.
I want to eat/experience/visit that which I can't eat/experience in Seattle, that doesn't involve huge amounts of do-re-mi or travel time from the hotel. (I won't be on an expense account while in NYC). I would love to go home with supplies I can't get here...like really superb curry paste, perhaps. I don't have to do it all in one trip, I will be back to Philly/NYC again before the end of June, and there are plentiful postings on this board about favorite Manhattan chowhound haunts.
I can get great sushi and seafood in the northwest, so no need to recommend along those lines...but would like to experience a uniquely Manhattan Chowhound Moment or two while in the city. It will be lovely to be in YOUR city...a city that has been much on my mind for the past five months, a city that is much in my heart through this site.
