20,000 Calories In 72 Hours In Italy: Some Were Worth It, Some Not

My wife and I landed in Milan at 8:00AM on Thursday. This morning at 9:00AM we returned to Malpensa to start our trip home. In the intervening hours we had dinner at Aido e Namia (considered the best restaurant in Milan with two Michelin stars), Il Postale (a highly regarded Umbrian restaurant with one star that no one on this board has mentioned) and a return visit to a personal favorite in Firenze. During the day I personally had at least two "Olivios" per day which Alan Richman has since immortalized from the Autogrill along with cheese and cold cuts from the city market in Bologna and elsewhere as well as pastries, gelato, chestnuts, virtually everything I could get my hands on throughout Lombardy, Tuscany and Umbria.
Within the next two days I will post detailed experiences from all of these (immodestly I even have the menus to refer to) but summarily I have to mention that one was among the most overrated and outlandishly expensive restaurants I have ever been to and another is, simply, the best Italian food I have ever tasted.
The first, by the way, had '97 Sassicaia listed for 230 Euros on the menu and the second had the exact same bottle of wine for 130 Euros.
I won't leave anyone in suspense: the best restaurant of this and any other trip that I have had to Italy was Il Postale. We preferred this to the three star Dal Pescatore, the two star Il Desco along with da Fiore, Bitone, Battebecco, perhaps even to the two star Le Calandre. When the price is factored in this is the best restaurant bargain of any that I have been to anywhere in the world.
