2 Quick lunch reports

L & L Hawaiian BBQ in Pleasant Hill - This is a fairly new addition to the commercial district around the CineArts complex. Tried a late lunch of a mini Hawaiian BBQ plate special with no starch - marinated beef short ribs and BBQ chicken (dark meat) with an egg over shredded lettuce and cabbage ($4.75). This was an over generous serving of meat, marred by the extreme saltiness of the beef. The chicken thigh meat was marinated just right. Probably should have had rice with it. Next time I'd stick with the chicken.

Chopin Cafe, Palos Verdes Mall, Pleasant Hill - Pork Cutlet with fresh sauerkraut and fried potato, $7.95. Excellent deal, cutlet was a large thin disc that was breaded and crispy brown. The sauerkraut was not overly sour, moist with little bits of shredded ham in the mixture. Potato was 2 boiled halves that had been lightly breaded and fried golden. A satisfying meal. Only 3 tables were occupied while I was there, all senior citizens. Young Polish man worked the front, while 2 older ladies were in the kitchen. I'd come back for dinner with more people.
