If you're planning to spend a weekend in Baltimore as my wife and I and some friends did just recently, may I recommend you stay at a lovely B and B in the Mt. Vernon section, one of the loveiest parts of the town? It is the Governemnt House (1125 N Calvert St (NOT Charles St as one internet site mistakenly identified), 410-539-0566. It is a lovlingly restored mansion with a lot of antiques and two pool tables in the basement, and very competitvely priced. The rooms were large and comfortable. One of the managers, Beverly, was a font of info about Baltimore--where to eat, what to see and her recommendations were right on!
One of the restaurants she suggested was the seafood/Italian La Tesso Tano, 58 W Biddle St, only 4 blocks away from the B and B, and very close to the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Simply, it was one of the best meals I have had from beginning to end. While it wasn't cheap (about $80 per couple including drinks, tax and tip), you got a lot of excellent, interesting food for the money.
If you try either one, let me know what you think.
