In most cases, the grocery store will add a premium to anything that requires extra labor. Chopped onions are more expensive than whole onions, and marinated fish is more expensive than the plain stuff. But rotisserie chickens are significantly cheaper than whole raw chickens. Why is that? Because the grocery store cooks up all the unsold raw chickens to prevent waste.
