On a tip from a wine salesperson, Robert Lauriston visited Martins West, a Redwood City gastropub that opened in 2009. He gave the thumbs-up to grilled octopus with broad beans, haggis on a stick (!), and marrow bones.
Another recent visitor, lrealml, liked the Bitter Truth and Lone Wolf cocktails as well as “the surprise star of the night”: a pastie with braised short ribs and blue cheese. “Silence ensued during its consumption,” lrealml says—a sure sign of approval.
myst thinks that Café Rouge’s softer, spreadable meat platters have an edge on those at Martins West, but still terms the food “tasty.”
