There she found a space that felt like it was still in transition, with stacked cardboard boxes, bulk candy, and a few types of handmade candy on display, ranging from truffles to English toffee and some sea-salt-and-vanilla caramels.
Cicely walked away with an English toffee and a truffle; the toffee was “delicious, tender-brittle in the way that it’s supposed to be,” but the truffle didn’t offer the bitter depth of dark chocolate. She’ll be back for the caramels, which she missed out on during this trip.
