Since forever, moms have endeavored to disguise fruits and vegetables to make them more palatable to kids. Now Burger King is helping out these beleaguered moms with some of its own food sleight of hand. The newest salvo in the fast food health wars? “Apple fries.”

And while some versions of apple fries don’t really sound all that healthy, Burger King’s will consist of fresh apples sliced “with a proprietary cutting process” (!) and served up in a (copyright infringement anyone?) “Frypod.”

According to the article in Advertising Age, “‘We think kids will flock to it,’ said Burger King spokesman Keva Silversmith.”

Apple fries are destined for BK’s revamped kids’ meal, which also swaps fried chicken tenders for broiled ones. Burger King has promised to “limit” its advertising to children under the age of 12 as well.
