If you’ve been on a new recipe rampage over the last few months, you’re not alone. Google recently disclosed that search interest around “recipe” had reached an all-time high, and with everyone locked up in quarantine—and dining out on temporary hiatus—it’s not wholly surprising. But what is everyone cooking—or attempting to cook—during the coronavirus quarantine? Lucky for us, Google also released the contents of the recipe searches, which reads as a handy guide to the top foods trending during the lockdown.
Globally, there’s been a concerted shift towards comfort food and carbohydrate-laden searches, with recipes for things like banana bread, pizza dough, and lasagna all cracking the top ten. Sweet breakfast foods and desserts are also represented in the list, with brownies, pancakes, and French toast all piquing the interest of home cooks in quarantine.
