As we near the final episode of “Game of Thrones” on May 19, you might need a drink (if only to quell the nagging anxiety over which beloved character will get bumped off next—or how badly the final season of GoT may let you down).

GoT Goblets?Raise These 'Game of Thrones' Goblets for Toasting the Final SeasonWhile the plotlines of the show may be as nerve-wracking as trying to predict the Democratic 2020 presidential field, one thing is for certain: the characters of “Game of Thrones” love to imbibe. From clove-infused mulled wine and the spirit-forward “proper northern drink” to the pear brandy of Essos and fresh ingredients like lemon, melon, pomegranate, sour cherry, and blackberry which are frequently consumed in between epic battles; there’s no shortage of cocktail inspiration in fictional Westeros. Throw in some straight-up whimsy (neon blue White Walkers milkshake shots, anyone?) and you’ve got plenty of potential drink combinations to work with.

If you’re looking to coordinate your beverages for the evening and want an experience that goes beyond a neat pour from the Game of Thrones Single Malt Scotch Whisky Collection or cracking open a Hand of the Queen beer (or a wine Cersei would love), here are some GoT cocktail recipes that are perfect for sipping while watching “Game of Thrones.”

Melisandre’s Shadow

Recreate a little of Melisandre’s dark magic with this bewitching cocktail that manages to bring both ice (literally) and fire (thanks to mezcal). Like the spooky shadow baby/assassin she birthed in season two, though, it’ll sneak up on you, so watch out.

  • 10 lime peels, well-scrubbed (save flesh and juice for other drinks, or compost/discard)
  • 2 cups grapeseed oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons activated charcoal
  • 1 1/2 ounces Rockey’s Milk Punch
  • 1 1/2 ounces El Silencio mezcal
  • 1/2 ounce passion fruit liqueur
1. Blend the lime peels and grapeseed oil in a blender until smooth. Stir in the activated charcoal. Set aside.
2. In a mixing glass, stir together the Rockey’s Milk Punch, mezcal, and passion fruit liqueur. Set aside.
3. Place 1 tablespoon of the charcoal oil in the bottom of a drinking glass (or chalice). Top with ice—crushed will work better to create the shadow effect.
4. Pour the other ingredients from the mixing glass into the prepared drinking glass over the oil and ice, and watch the magic begin.

Wildfire on Blackwater Bay

“Game of Thrones” is based on George R.R. Martin’s best-selling book series “A Song of Ice and Fire,” so it makes sense that there’s a GoT inspired cocktail that involves actual flames. With a mix of melon liqueur, vodka, and overproof rum, this drink is potent enough to destroy Stannis Baratheon’s fleet. Note: Pyrophobic bartenders need not apply. Get the Wildfire Cocktail recipe.

Lady Sansa Stark

It’s no secret that Sansa adores lemon cakes (at least, she used to), so naturally a cocktail named in her honor combines a mix of tangy citrus with warm, spicy notes of cardamom and saffron. The recipe suggests using a vodka that’s been infused with rose petals (we suspect it’s to pay homage to the “dusk rose tea” made from a flower grown in fictional Slaver’s Bay). Get the Lady Sansa Stark Cocktail recipe.

White Walker Milkshake Shots

If you’ve ever fantasized about annihliating a few White Walkers, now you can with the help of some vanilla ice cream and a blender. These Creamsicle-like shots make the perfect companion for a “Long Night.” Get the White Walker Milkshake Shots recipe.
