There’s nobody I love more in the world than Beyoncé (aside from friends and family, of course) and even I think her 36th birthday cake is just the slightest bit outrageous. Perhaps that’s because hubby Jay-Z dropped $3,500 for the bee-inspired geode masterpiece, adorned with the same gold crown the “Single Ladies” songstress rocked during her iconic 2017 Grammy performance. If you liked it, then you should have put an accessory on it, apparently.
While $3,500 is essentially the value of a toothbrush for one of the world’s richest couples, that doesn’t mean we can’t be the slightest bit salty about a dessert that is more than double our monthly rent.
According to E!, the tiered cake was purchased from Philadelphia’s Cake Life Bake Shop, who also prepared cookies for the Queen’s over-the-top birthday celebration at Budweiser’s Made in America Festival.
The business posted a shot of their creations on Instagram with the caption: “Treats fit for a Queen! Thank you, @Beyonce, for including our cakes and cookies in your birthday celebration!! Dreams truly do come true… Shout out to our team for doing such a great job. Special thanks to the incredible @beccac123! #therealbeydaycake #beyday #beyonce #madeinamericafestival #geodecake #cakelife #cakelifebakeshop.”
At this rate, we can’t even imagine what Jay’s 50th birthday cake is going to look like in a few years. A geode volcano? Diamond vault? Perhaps a giant mold of Beyoncé’s derriere with the word “Bootylicious” sprawled across the top? The possibilities are endless.
Needless to say, it won’t be tasting anything like lemonade (that was a hard drink for Jay to swallow), though Bey and her hive of friends and employees will surely pull out all the stops to make it memorable. She’s an expert at “upgrading,” after all.
