Crossroad Restaurant is a little kebab and falafel place that serves pretty much the best lula kebab sandwich cant talk…eating has ever had. But if you look carefully here, you’ll notice a little handwritten sign that says “Wednesday Okra $8.99.”

That Wednesday special turns out to be a garlicky beef and okra stew unlike anything cant talk…eating has tried before: “Tomato based broth, whole young okra, not mushy/slimy, and seriously homemade. For all I know this may be the national dish in some Middle Eastern nation but I’d never heard of it, and don’t remember ever seeing it on a menu in L.A.”
