The Lasting Room in Haverhill is named after “lasts“—model feet used by shoemakers to shape and repair shoes. Once known as the “Queen Slipper City,” Haverhill was a world leader in the shoe industry by the end of the 19th century, and the legacy remains today. At the Lasting Room, diners can order from a standard pub menu, but the house marinated steak tips are the way to go, says ScubaSteve.
The $13 plate of steak tips includes eight pieces, cooked to order, and two sides. The coleslaw is nice and crunchy (not swimming in mayo), and the sweet potato fries are extra crispy.
Aside from the steak tips, good bets include burgers and the buffalo chicken wrap. But if you’re looking for a Guinness to go along with your meal, don’t count on a perfect pour.
