Just checked out the New Zealander, a new pub/restaurant in Alameda and it was delicious. I had the steak and cheese pie and my husband had the lamb burger. My pie had a buttery, flaky crust that was the perfect partner to the savory steak filling. My husband ate up the burger before I could get a decent taste of it but he seemed quite happy. The chef /owner came out and chatted with us about the food and totally charmed us. I hope they can make a good go of it-- we'll definitely return for the lamb curry pie. Oh and the desserts (bread pudding and apple pie) were also very decent!
