Had dinner at a surprisingly bustling Zarole in Ridgewood on Saturday night. The food was FANTASTIC. As soon as we were seated, the chef sent out a complimentary spring roll appetizer, which was tiny, but just enough to whet our appetite. After we had all finished our first courses, the chef sent out another round of complimentary dishes -- lobster claw over a tiny dollop of risotto. It was also great. Dinner -- I had the lamb entree, my girlfriend had the rare ahi tuna -- was superb. Dessert was great, I recommend the chocolate sampler: a warm chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, and a small vanilla milkshake. After dessert, another round of complimentary truffles!
The prices are more in line with what I would expect in Manhattan, so maybe that's why you get all the freebies, but the service was great, and all in all, a great dinner in Ridgewood.
