I'm going to have an evening in New York with a business associate who is also a good friend. We're both generally fans of Asian food and have spouses who don't share our enthusiasm. So we typically grab Asian when we're together. We both get to travel a lot on work and come from other reasonably cosmopolitan cities. I'd like to find a place that's as unique-to-New York or at least unusual. I'm looking for novelty rather than any particular price point or ambiance. A $250-a-head Omakase is good but so is a divvy place that serves the best Laotian food this side of Vientiane. Thanks!
