Had a stellar dinner at Xiomara (on Raymond in Pasadena) last Monday. In a town (LA) where nothing good seems to be open on Mondays, Xiomara shines. Since it wasn't crowded, we received attentive service. The appetizers could be meals in themselves; most notable was a tender rock shrimp tamale in lobster sauce (which I could have taken a swim in).
Best dish on the menu, hands down: the lamb shank with taro puree. don't even think about not ordering it. Of course, their signature house drink, a specially blended mojito, is a perfect complement. High-end Cubano food at its finest. Brava, Xiomara!
