My husband and I had an absolutely delicious, pleasant lunch at Black Salt today. We started with nice, warm French bread served with olive oil combined with minced olives. Yum... Then, we each had the Pan Bagnat sandwich - a hollowed out bun the inside of which was brushed with a delicious, subtly garlicky vinaigrette and filled with (not sweet!!) tuna salad which was topped by a perfectly cooked (medium rare) piece of tuna. So fresh and wonderful. The sandwiches came with Black Salt chips which are so ethereally light yet crispy and only lightly salted - in a word addicting - that I asked for another bowl of them. For dessert, we splurged and ordered the cookie and candy plate for two which was a toothsome selection of sugar cookies, raspberry cruble bars, cashew clusters (a bit too chewy for me), chocolate cookies, almond brittle and fresh strawberries, all of which tasted wonderful and homemade. They have one heck of a pastry chef! The server was professional, young, and friendly but not intrusive. Our lunch at Black Salt was a breath of fresh air - and fresh fish -after my disappointing experience at Luigi's. What did that part of Palisades do without that restaurant?
