Willows chowing

Ran away from home today, just for the hottest part of the day, to Salem Willows Park. What a pleasant place on a weekday! The ocean, shade trees, harbor cruises, AND a row of games arcades and fast food joints! I imagine it's too crowded for pleasure at weekends.

Anyway, I took it upon myself, strictly for research purposes, you understand, to glean my lunch (and breakfast!) from the many offerings. I had:

A slice of pizza from the Willow House Jumbo Pizza & Subs window, which you might as well skip unless you _enjoy_ melted plastic on cardboard.

Fried clams at Cappy's Seafood, which I recommend if you are at Willows. Fresh, clean, big, sweet and juicy without being sloppy. A tad bit on the greasy side, and unexpectedly salty (tasted like they sprinkled salt over the top), but still quite good. The small box set me back $10 including tax.

Hobbs' Homemade ice cream. I got the small cone, on which they pile two big scoops, and spent the next ten minutes licking it into submission. Get a lot of napkins if you are there on a hot day. Mint chip was quite decent, chocolate was a bit malty for my taste.

Sorry, I did not try the chop suey sandwich, nor the fried dough. If you do, by all means report.

Salad tonight, I think...
