I have recently published on the internet a collection of talks by members of The Oyster Foundation at our meeting in Paris last May. One of the pieces will be of particular interest to this group. It is called "One of the Wettest Junkets in History" by Edward B. Marks, and it concerns an Ile de France voyage from New York to France shortly after the repeal of prohibition. At the time, Mr. Marks was a reporter for The American Wine & Liquor Journal. The article in slightly different form originally appeared in Playboy.
Please feel free to read any of the essays that catch your eye, but surely the Marks piece will satisfy your gastronomic bones.
