Went to the Cape this weekend, and went to Embargo in Hyannis Friday night, based on several comments on this board. The bar is huge, and fun. Bartenders are very knowledgable about the food, and very attentive. The food was great (friend had scallops with mashed potatoes and edammame with a ginger dipping sauce.) I had the truffle parmesean french fries (were very good) and the skirt steak with chimmichurri sauce. Two problems: when getting a 'small plate' of skirt steak, am I unrealistic to expect no fat? The steak was sliced, and about 3 out of 6 slices had fat. After about 9 pm the place turned into a pick up joint, with blasting music and a MUCH younger crowd, very loud. I expected that, after reading some posts, but it was really, uncomfortably loud!
We also went to Tomatoes in Sandwich for dinner Saturday. Very busy, solid service. Had a baked onion soup for a starter, very good. The cheese ravioli and marinara sauce I had for my main course was good, but nothing to write home about.
Both Saturday and Sunday we went to Cafe Chew in Sandwich for breakfast. Besides the bad name, it was great. Outside seating, good coffee and nice pastry and muffin selections. I had a breakfast sandwich both days, but noticed the couple next to us had steel-cut oatmeal with dries fruit and nuts, looked very hearty and tasty. Friendly service and atmosphere. I will definitely be going back.
