Wallse - quick update

Just a quick overview of the dishes we had - to start: terrine of foie gras, spatzle with rabbit,corn, tarragon & peas, and lobster soup with lobster ravioli. Main courses - venison, cod with figs, duck, & halibut in a wonderful green sauce. Desserts - chocolate dumplings, pear & apple strudle with mace ice cream and riesling granita, orange "creamsicle" - looked like an orange flan with a crispy round of caramel on top & a sauce, and "viennese coffee" - vanilla ice cream with espresso sabayon. Sorry for less detail on the main course - obviously wasn't paying attention to the accompaniments/sauces. Aldo wasn't working - had another terrific Austrian red wine that was not on the list (only two bottles left - we took care of that) - I have the name of the wine written down somewhere ...

I noticed that the guest eating the duck was picking at it and not being able to cut it - turns out it was far too rare for her - the waitress was very kind about taking it back to the kitchen to cook some more, and the plate returned nicely plated once again. Dish was declared delicious at this point.

Our guests loved it and we had a fun evening with consistently very good food. Sat in the front room which was bustling, but not too loud to enjoy conversation
