Virginia Beach report-Fire and Vine

My SO and I had never been to Virginia Beach or this part of the world, and had done a thorough search on CH before going. We liked Catch 31 at the Hilton, but were bowled over by the food and service at Fire and Vine. It's not a complicated menu, but the quality of the food, excellent service, outstanding and reasonably priced wine list and the ambience was so unexpectedly good, I had to post.

All of their meats are fire roasted on skewers which made for a pretty presentation and perfectly cooked meats. We started with a beef skewer that had a black pepper aoili dipping sauce horseradish that didn't overpower the meat I stuck with the Chef's table for the main meal which is a salad bar on steroids. Four different kinds of salad greens, homemade dressings, an olive bar, three different kinds of Italian cured meats, cheeses and small selections of toppings. After eating BBQ for two days, it was a welcome change. SO had the beef tenderloin with smoked tomato hollandaise and veal sauce redution for dinner, All their beef is from Harris Ranch and just terrific.

I can't remember the wine I because I was drinking by the glass and only had one. But the selection was tremendous and as previously noted, very well priced. We ended the meal with one of the best creme brulee I have ever had and coffees. Total with wine, two cocktails, etc. was $123.00 before tip. We ran into the owner on our way out and he told us there will be more dishes added later this year.

They have their menu and hours posted at www.fireandvine.com
