How often does a restaurant "closed for renovations" reopen, particularly after a couple of years? Happy Buddha has, and is barely recognizable at 135-37 37th Ave near Main St. (and the 7 train) in Flushing. They seem to have quadrupled their space, and no longer need the wonderfulness of the food to make the place cheerful, although they also have that. And Kosher certification. And free parking. I'd recommend the passion roll, zhi zhi beef, CrispyCrispy, but beyond that have to admit that I don't even remember what they called the dishes I had, just that I enjoyed every bite.
