Vama, Amaya or Zaika for London visit?

jody | Dec 18, 2005 06:53 PM

I'm visiting London over the holidays and and trying to choose an Indian Restaurant.

I'll be bringing my parents, who "don't like Indian", but (a) probably never had any decent Indian (I think they just don't like the taste of dishes that use too much cumin)and (b) are willing to try it in London, knowing that London is known for good Indian .

I've been to Vama on a previous trip and I had an enjoyable meal, but with so many great restaurants in London, I'd love to experience a different one. I've been reading a lot about Amaya, but I'm wondering if it lives up to its reputation and if the kebab focus steers it too far away from traditional Indian favorite dishes and flavors.

p.s. we'll be staying in South Kensington and don't want to trek all the way across town for dinner.

Thanks!
