What vacuum do you use at home? I need a new one and suggestions

Autumm2 | Jun 14, 202006:41 PM     9

My 23 year old Hoover "Elite Supreme" seems to be reaching the end of it's life span. I inherited it when my grandmother passed away while in college- probably one of the few college students out there with a 4 year old vacuum, so I've never purchased a vacuum.

What type/brand/style vacuum do you use? What do you like/don't like/wish you could have? I ask because I have a carpeted dining room (white carpet of course!) and 2 kiddos. We vacuum the living room/entry/dining area every other day or so, bedrooms/family room about weekly, and the 1500 square foot carpeted basement monthly. So I'm vacuuming about 2800 square feet of carpet, and we also have 1000 square feet of hardwood/tile surfaces. I'm hoping to switch out the dining room to hardwood at some point, but the previous owners put in very nice carpet which I can't justify ripping out.

I'm hoping my current vacuum can be repaired enough to work in the basement, but I know a new device will be needed. Thanks in advance for your input!
