Upper East Side crunchy bakery and restaurant - help me find its name?!

KatieMc | Feb 11, 201509:30 AM     2

Hi All
I was in manhattan last year and went to a great bakery and restaurant on the upper east side (maybe southern end?) scrubbed wooden refectory tables and chairs, open kitchen, and bakery counter at the front. Quite large. The owner/chef has several large format cookery books including several bread books. Can anyone tell me the name of the resto or author?
We have recently moved to rural Ontario and I cannot buy good bread closer than 20 mins away by car. Supermarket bread not an option. I would love to read the books and start making it myself.
Thank you!
Kate
