Uphill alert for D'Angelo (Mill Valley)

I used to really enjoy Piazza D'Angelo in Mill Valley, for the food, the place, the usually-festive atmosphere, and the good and friendly service. Then the food seemed go to mediocre and worse, and I haven't been back for maybe three years. Today I met a friend for lunch there and was very pleasantly surprised. I was in conversation mode, not remember-and-review mode, so this will be pretty sketchy for details. Suffice to say that the shared appetizer, entrée (both seafood), and dessert were very good and the young waitress was both friendly and professional. And the kitchen executed our request that prawns be cooked "partly transluescent, not white all the way through" perfectly. So if you're one of those who has shied away from this place lately, I'd say give it a try. I also like Vasco nearby, but it's a more hustle-and-bustle high energy place (that can be a good thing) and D'Angelo is a lower-key and more gracious experience also including being fun.
