Unicorn Pan-Asian (Berkeley) -- nice dinner

Joel Teller | Nov 27, 2005 07:32 PM

We had a nice dinner at Unicorn "Pan-Asian cuisine".
Four of us had the prawn rolls, the mango rolls, the duck with bok choy, the smoked eggplant, the caramelized seabass in claypot, and the spinach with sesame.

The duck was chewy but very flavorful, the other dishes were also very good. We enjoyed the black rice flavored with coconut. We did not have room for dessert.

We brought our own wine (corkage was $12). We ate well for $22 apiece, after tax but before tip.

Surprisingly the place was nearly full on Saturday at 6:45 PM. There were two large parties of Chinese multigenerational families, with adorable well-behaved kids.

Service was friendly and competent.
The ambience is very relaxed, and more upscale that one would expect, given the location --
