A couple of friends and I went to dim sum at Triumphal Palace in Alhambra today, and I think that was quite possibly the worst service I have ever had in my life! We waited nearly an hour after being seated for our first dish to appear and after inquiring three times (to two waitstaff and one manager), the other 5 items we ordered trickled out one at a time. When we complained about the awful service, the manager got defensive and gave some lame excuses about being newly opened, etc. The most unbelievably Larry David moment came when, after paying the check, a waiter came by with a tray of sesame rice balls and asked if we would like some. We said sure, thinking that they were complimentary. The manager quickly rushed over and asked if we wanted to open up the tab again. We said no, we only thought they were on the house, to which she replied, oh no, they're not. So we said well then we don't want them...and she said oh okay, and PICKED THE PLATE UP OFF THE TABLE. We looked at her incredulously and she sheepishly said oh, you want them and started to set them back down again! It was RIDICULOUS. I couldn't believe how clueless she was about restaurant service. Don't understand how the LA Times could have given it such a rave review. The food was pretty good, but not good enough to put up with that service.
