Trip Report: Willamette Valley

We spent a few days in the Willamette Valley in September to celebrate our anniversary and would like to share our experiences:

Firstly, would love to recommend our B&B, A'Tuscan Estate, for the food. The chef/owner, Jacques, is a wonderful, classically trained chef, and his breakfasts were amazing! Some dishes we had were truffle quiche, anise crème brulée, and homemade pain au chocolate every morning. The inn itself was beautiful and comfy, and easy walking distance of downtown McMinnville.

For our anniversary dinner, we took Chowhounders' advice and went to the Jory at the Allison Hotel. Delicious food and great service, very "new American" with an extensive wine list. I had the lamb two ways, which included a tender lamb loin crusted with spices and house-made merguez. They also offer half glasses of wine (at no extra charge), so if you want to pair your wine across courses it's much easier to do without getting tipsy, especially if you're driving back, as I was. The restaurant is spacious, but I did want to add the caveat that the vibe is very "corporate retreat"--not at all quirky/romantic/atmospheric. It has that hotel restaurant feel. I don't really mind one way or another, but I know some folks might find that sort of thing a little sterile?

For more casual meals we enjoyed dinner at Pure Vida Cocina in McMinnville and lunch at Red Hills Market in Dundee.
