On recommendation of several, we took my sister and family to Big Ragu, which is close to where they live. They are vegetarian, and the menu proved a hit with lots of options. While not everything was stellar (I didn't love the naked ravioli) for the price and variety, I'd definitely recommend it. I loved the pheasant ravioli, a special, and the fried cheese-filled gnocchi appetizer, another special.
Now a recommendation for you: ASIAN DELIGHT, on Dundas just west of Beverly. Oh my. Stylish, Shanghai-style cooking. We went for lunch one day on my Shanghai-born, somewhat Hong Kong-raised (until 12) sister-in-law's recommendation -- then went back again. Try No. 11 on the dim sum menu: Beef in green-onion pancake.
Pho: Not our choice, since we get wonderful Vietnamese in Portland. Pho Huong on Spadina was adequate.
Gelato: Sicilian Ice Cream on College at Shaw remains our hands-down favorite. The zillion-flavor place on St. Clair at Landsdowne was very good but way too pricey.
Rest was home cooking. Which was great.
Naomi in Portland. Come visit.
