travel cookware (in the dorms)

My niece will be China for two months studying there and will be in the dorms. She isn't allowed to have anything with an open flame. What do you think are essentials for her?

This is what I have so far:
- travel rice cooker
http://www.amazon.com/Aroma-Simply-St...
- kettle
http://www.amazon.com/Proctor-Silex-K...
- bowls/silverware
http://www.amazon.com/Alfie-Pet-Petog...
http://www.amazon.com/Piece-RePEaT-Ut...

I can't really think of anything else. Maybe a crockpot would work too since she will be studying a lot. She could just chop/slice and prep the vegetables and meat, throw it in the crockpot, and forget about it for day until she comes home in the evening.

The university strongly recommends that she only eat at restaurants so she can fully experience everything that China has to offer since there are supposedly a lot of different cultural places to eat where she will be attending (Minzu University in Beijing). But I know that she hates any kind of Chinese food that is not homemade. Perhaps this is my fault because I am exactly the same way but she doesn't trust almost anyone or restaurant with her food (unless they're family/close friends).

Thoughts?

P.S. - I will say that I am considering telling her to just eat out and forego the hassle of bringing so much stuff abroad with her. I know she might get sick for a few days but she should get used to it quickly I would think.
