Transporting Chanterelles

LM225 | Nov 22, 201001:38 PM

I'm traveling from SF to the east coast to visit family for Thanksgiving, and I was hoping to bring a few pounds of chanterelles along to give to my parents. It's a 5-6 hour flight, so I would need to keep them fresh somehow that's airplane-friendly for a total of 8-9 hours. Any ideas?

I'm planning on buying them the day of my flight, but what next? Cooler? Can't bring ice packs on the plane, but I could throw some ziplocs full of frozen grapes in there. Maybe a wet paper towel laid over them?

Sidenote: I'm also bringing a slab of lardo, which I assume will be fine, since it's cured. If I'm wrong on that, please let me know!

Thanks in advance!
