Trader Joe's and other chain supermarkets and Manhattan

We're going to remind everyone that the Manhattan board exists to discuss the delicious chow that is unique to Manhattan. It's fine to post information about the opening of new stores (including chain stores) in Manhattan. It's fine to discuss unique local alternatives to chain stores.

It's not OK to rail about how chain stores are ruining Manhattan. We're not the site for that discussion.

It's not OK to use this board to review food products that are sold in chain stores (such as Trader Joe's and Whole Foods). The General Topics board is the place for such discussion. If you want to be sure to get the input and attention of local hounds on such a discussion, it's fine to put a "heads up" post on this board, pointing towards the discussion you've started on the General Topics board. Because such discussions are of interest to hounds everywhere, you'll get much better feedback.

Please help us all use this board to explore the great and diverse Manhattan chow scene without getting bogged down in political or off topic discussions.

This is just an announcement. If you need to share your opinion on this matter, please use the Site Talk board.

Thanks.
