Has anyone heard of this dish? I had it for lunch today at a taqueria/deli. It consisted of two cakes of chopped shrimp bathed in a fiery deep brownish red sauce accompanied by a heap of tortillas and rice and refried beans.
The tortas themselves were a little salty for me, but overall it was interesting and tasty, not the least because the word torta is usually reserved for Mexican sandwiches. The proprietor told me that this dish is a specialty of his native Puebla. I'm curious to know more about this dish, particularly the sauce. I swear the tortas themselves had a lot of cheese in the breading.
