I am getting really desperate...For the last ten years, I have been
searching for two recipes that died with my mother in 1989. Both of them
she found, I am quite certain, in women's magazines in the 70's...but I
have NEVER been able to find either recipe.
The first is called "Texas Chili". It contains **NO** tomatoes in ANY
form; its red color is derived solely from chili powder. It is made with
ground beef -- no pork, no chunks of meat. It contains onions, green
peppers, and can be made with or without beans. As I recall, the recipe
made a large pot of chili, and she always froze leftovers.
The second recipe is called "Oriental Green Casserole". It contains
ground beef, peas, snow peas, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, and soy
sauce, and is served over your choice of rice or chow mein noodles. Some
people have sent me recipes that also included various soup mixes --
usually cream of mushroom -- but these are nothing like the recipe I'm
I've searched tons of chili-recipe sites for the first recipe, but
nothing even remotely comes close. As for the second recipe -- the only
recipes people have recommended contained cream of whatever soup, and had
none of the other ingredients except ground beef.
Please, I BEG of you, if you have one or both of these recipes, please
post them, or send them to me privately!
Thanks very much!!"
