I recently read Tamar Adler's excellent new book "An Everlasting Meal" and have incorporated toast and some yummy something (pesto, tomatoes, coriander chutney, goat cheese, etc.) into my repertoire again. Since I make my own bread, it's a delicious and fast little meal. This writer describes the toast fad sweeping the country and what he believes is its origin. File under: You Can't Make This Stuff Up.
