We are Essex Seafood regulars following weekend beach trips during the summer. Was there for the first time this season yesterday and while still better than the competition they seemed a bit off their game.
Clams were tiny and uninspiring (I realize there is a red tide locally but even when this isn't the case much of the clam supply on the N Shore comes from distant beds and is usually better).
Maybe they needed to change the oil or smth but the crunch on the clams, fries, and onion rings just wasn't there.
They no longer have a big tub of self-serve ice water available and if you ask individually you get a single barely-cool cup from the tap.
When signing the credit card slip I was basically instructed to add a tip -- mind you, this is a place with window service only.
Am hoping these are just early season hiccups...
