Thanks in advance for you help.
Mom just had back surgery, Grandma's too old (89) to cook a feast, and I don't fly into Chicago until 11:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
I've suggested that we eat out on Thanksgiving to make it easy on everyone, which immediately thrilled mom. With my brother and a few cousins, there should be no more than six of us. Because of mom's health, she would prefer to stay in the northern burbs.
Perhaps it's too early, but I couldn't find much on Metromix or other Chicago sites for restaurants open on Thanksgiving. I found a reference to Va Pensiero in Evanston and Ruth's Chris in Northbrook is another possibility. Hotels are an obvious choice, but I don't know of any very nice ones in the burbs. We'd like to do something more upscale than Chinese, but it doesn't have to be a super-traditional turkey dinner.
Can anyone recommend a spot or two? Probably between Evanston and Highland Park and west to about Arlington Heights.
MANY THANKS from a D.C. hound who genuinely misses Chicago eats.
