New Thai to Try

Sokhu Thai
274-A Parliament Street (between Dundas and Shuter, west side)

Small and family-owned. Opened last week. I've tried the Red Curry, the Green Curry and something that resembled a folded omelette over rice that was recommended to me by the owners. I liked it.

I don't have a sophisticated knowledge of Thai food, but most of what I've had, I haven't liked because of the quality of the ingredients, or the haphazrd preparation. But this place was pretty good. And the family running it are very enthusiastic about handing out samples and expanding one's palate. I tried a sample of salted, cured beef the other day that I will definitely order. They explained the process to me for making it (and it reminded me of all those capocolli we made every January at home).

If you're in the area, it's well worth a go. I always order takeout and a lunch runs around $7.00.
