Tasty Q this weekend

martyR | Jul 12, 2004 01:03 PM

After reading all the BBQ posts lately, I had to get down to Crenshaw and try one out. I settled on Tasty Q because you can eat inside and it was too hot to go to Phillips or Woody's and eat outside. I'm a beef rib guy and like lots of sauce, so I ordered the beef rib lunch with two sides and asked for the hot sauce. The ribs, at least 8 of them, were the meatiest ribs I've had since Burnett's in ALtadena closed. Pretty tender with great flavor. The sauce was not hot. I hope they just gave me the mild by mistake, but it was very flavorful. I got Macaroni and cheese and BBQ beans for the sides. The m&c was good, but not exceptional. The beans were another thing. I had expected to get the classic tangy beans, but these were much different. The beans were much bigger and there was lots of shredded meat in with the sauce. After I got over my surprise, I thought they were exceptional. Eight ribs two sides, three slices of bread and a lemonade for 10.30 was pretty good I thought. I'd go back in a (clogged) heartbeat, but want to try Woody's and Phillips too.
