Taqueria El Bajio in SAnta Barabara - the real Chowhound find

Defintiely the best carne asada around, with nice very tasty burnt bits, and a sloshing of some great guac and sour cream to cool down the richness of the meat, they do taste meaty, but this is like your neighborghood taco joint gone to the heavens. but alas the tacos are pricey about 3 dollars tax inclusive for each one, and this is not a sit down restaurant so a couple of tacos and a coke or horchata can easily reach about 10 bucks or so. but i'd rather spend that cash here and get some great tacos rather than haveing a single pedestrian $1 taco ever. and these are some darn addictive tacos. and another bonus is the quite attractive daugthers of the proprietor. this is a great joint, truly a chowhound find if you've never been. and even though you may make a pilgrimage to la super rica, the real goods, especially when it comes to tacos are here.

also, lastly, they are not just limited to tacos, they have goat stew specials, fish soup, shrimp soup heady with the smell and flavor of shrimp shells in the stock, chile rellensos, enchiladas, cow tongue tacos, giant fish tacos, burritos, even combo plates, different sopas, tortas, some mexican traditional candies/sweets, and other good stuff too. don't forget to try one of the grand mexican cokes in the bottle. amongst other bottled mexican specialities.

this is definitely a great and totally underrated joint.
