Tampa/St. Pete/Largo: Battered-Lightly Oysters

DougShow | Feb 11, 2004 08:54 PM

I used to love the fried oysters on my trips to visit my parents, but wonder, are there local catches of oysters down here (were there ever?), and is there anywhere that does not over-batter them. There needs to be a Shelter for Battered Oysters, done lightly. I don't care if there's peanut shells on the floor, lame side dishes, as long as the oysters are super fresh, and again lightly battered.

also, I'm from LA, and we have a rule that if you get an ocean view, you have to make up to the Gods by having crap-food. but, if you get a mini-mall spot with zero parking, then you can have as nice a place as you like. is there anywhere on the water that's good in the above-mentioned area and not insanely pricey? I don't know if I can take another trip to Levrocks ...

On the red-eye tomorrow night, so post haste or hasty posts encouranged.
