When I was a kid growing up in N.O. in the 60s and 70s, my late father used to bring home these great ground beef tamales, packed by the dozen in tin containers completely immersed in this red, spicy, oily sauce. The result was very moist, flavorful tamales that I could eat by the dozen. Besides the great memory of him coming though the door with these tasty treats, I still believe these were the best tamales I've had in my life. I think he used to get them from a guy that had some type of food establishment somewhere between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Perhaps they are available in N.O. as well since I also had a neighbor that use to make a simliar one. As I've posted before on this site, I will be home in about a week and would like to acquire some great tamales while I'm in the area. Any suggestions?
