Sweet Tamales

PeteEats | Jan 30, 2006 12:01 PM

I recently picked up some (frozen) sweet tamales (pineapple and cocoanut IIRC)at the Indio tamale festival. While I am quite familiar with the savory variety, I know virtually nothing about sweet tamales. I'm thinking about serving them at a small dinner party this weekend, but I have the following questions:

1. I know I need to steam them first, but do I serve them hot or cold?
2. Are there any traditional things served with, like a sauce or something for some crunch?
3. How are they plated so the diner is not just looking at a yellow blob on his plate?

Many thanks.
