St. George's Friday Greek Luncheons

I’d already eaten lunch but I walked by the St. George’s Greek luncheon. Church ladies hustling pastitisio to those in the know. Food looked good. I grabbed a menu, here are the highlights:

Baked salmon w/2 veggies - $8
Pastitsio w/one veggie & a salad $7
½ roast chicken w/potatoes & salad $7
lamb shank w/orzo and salad $7
fava beans w/artichoke & spinach pie $7
mix veggies greek style w/salad $7
greek salad $5
grape leaves $3 for 5
spinach pies are $2 each

they’ve also got baklava, kataifi, and galaktoboureko. My personal favorite greek pastry is those Loukamades (sp?), those doughballs floating in honey and coated in nuts. I asked about them and they say they aren’t usually part of the lunch but they’re making them later this month after Sunday mass (I may, indeed, sneak in after a service and pick some up, which they said would be cool). The lunch goes from 11am-3pm on Fridays till spring. Will report back once I try it.
